2 Willow Road is located in the London suburb of Hampstead and was designed by Erno Goldfinger as his own residence. One could be mistaken for thinking that it was desigined in the 1950s, but was actually designed in 1939. The stunning design fetures include the use of open plan living as well as concrete pillars and timber panelling as wonderful features of the main facade. The interior spaces have a wonderful collection of artworks, and furniture from the 20th Centiry. I really love the large pane of glass that is a central feature of the design, as it makes an interesting focal point and when inside the home, the light floods in, even on an overcast day. The original spiral staircase from the lower to second floor is also stunning. Goldfinder designed many key Modernist buildings, including the Brutalist Trellick Tower in London.
