Thomas Ryan > Government Offices, Murray Street. Built in the 1960s this Brutalist style building is a good example of its type in Hobart. It will be demolished as part of the Parliament Square Redevelopment Project starting in March 2010.

One of the first reports of the building going up was in The Mercury newspaper in 1966 when the headline was "Work on tallest Hobart building starts next week"

Amenities were said to have included "a caretaker's flat...on the roof....each office floor would be served by the four passneger lifts, a goods lift, and two staircases"

Of the form that the Government office would take The Mercury reported "the outside concrete framework would form a distinctive pattern with aluminum windows and bronze anodised aluminum spandrel panels"
